Animation Collective Collects Orders
New York-based Flash-animation house Animation Collective, headed
up by Larry Schwarz, is off to a pretty amazing 2005. Their two Flash-based shorts series ‘Leader Dog‘ and ‘Tortellini Western‘ continue to play to the Nicktoons cable net, and now they have two series pickups to celebrate. ‘Kappa Mikey‘ was recently purchased by MTV Networks for global distribution. A total of 26 half-hour episodes were ordered of this ‘fish out of water’ series set in the anime-crazy Japanese workplace, and now Larry’s collective is welcoming a princess into their fold – ‘Princess Natasha.’
Twenty ‘Natasha’ Flash-shorts have played on America
Online’s KOL(tm) kid-centric web portal since they debuted back in 2002, and now the series is headed to TV. Cartoon Network will be airing these shorts later this year, and a line of books and more web-based video games will also debut in 2005. This is all on the heels of ‘The Incredible Crash Dummies,’ a Flash-animated series Larry and his crew delivered to 4Kids Network in February of 2004. New York is surely shaping up as a Flash TV epicenter, with Funny Garbage, Noodlesoup, and Animation Collective, all producing for cable channels or networks.

I removed a comment from this posting due to its careless and wanton misspellings. Okay, I actually removed it because it was fairly inflammatory, and I’d like to keep Cold, Hard Flash from becoming a dark, digital alley full of hateful epitaphs. If you’d like to discuss this issue, please email me and I’ll explain the ins and outs of my strict ‘Say No To Hate’ policy – admin@coldhardflash.com. Best Regards – The Management
