Stumbled onto a fantastic newcomer – Clio Chiang out of Vancouver. Clio just graduated from the Capilano College Commercial Animation Program, but you’d think Clio was a seasoned pro. Have a look at this beautifully animated Flash short ‘How the Joneses’ 23rd Goldfish Narrowly Escaped Death.’ The voicework could use a little help, but that’s not what dropped my jaw to the floor – it’s the character animation, the beautiful BG layouts and the timing. Clio’s also employing a nice trick that can take the ‘Flashy’ look out of a short – importing BMP or JPG files in for the BGs. Fantastic work all around – can’t wait to see more from this promising Flash animator/illustrator.
