JibJab Launches Big Box Mart
A brand-new Flash-animated JibJab film launched yesterday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
On the heels of JibJab’s phenomenally successful ‘This Land’ and ‘Good to be in DC!’ parodies that were viewed over 80 million times, ‘Big Box Mart’ is now available at MSN Video and JibJab.com as part of an exclusive content partnership.
‘Big Box Mart’ looks to be JibJab’s next viral success, but it’s also an experiment in audience participation. Over 1,000 audience members’ photos were chosen to be part of the film’s cast. For months leading up to the production, JibJab fans were encouraged to upload their photos in hopes of squeezing into a scene or two. For those chosen, they received still images of the scene they starred in,
as it’s often hard to see each individual face in this fast-paced, two-minute film.
Over at the JibJab site, you can view a ‘Big Box Mart’ making-of video (see it larger here) of this photo-submission effort that JibJab is calling ‘The Great Experiment.’ On the same page, notice that the JibJab gang is announcing a shift in the companies’ direction:
The old JibJab was a place you came to watch funny videos. The new JibJab is a place you can watch funny videos and be a part of the entertainment!
