Included in the offering are the following Flash-animated properties:
PROWLIES AT THE RIVER
Need we say any more about Adam Phillips incredible Brackenwood series? Well, yes. His short ‘Prowlies at the River’ is now available for download on your cellphone, and what’s more - there’s another installment on the way. In a mere matter of days, a new 7-minute short from the now world-reknowned Australian animator is due. I have it on good authority that a certain editor a certain blog you might be reading right now will be screening the short a few days prior to launch. In the meantime, check out the teaser shot over at Newgrounds, his Cold, Hard Flash interview, and stay close for updates!
ITCHING HANDS
A series of brief, unrelated shorts by ckoe. The series originated online, beginning back in 2002 in a effort to post a new short every 2 weeks. The entire series currently consists of 70 shorts. Click here to see an example or ckoe’s bite-sized shorts.
ROTTEN EGGHEADS
This simple series of Flash-animated shorts features characters with - you guessed it - eggheads. The shorts were created and animated back in 2001 by the Austrian company Instant, and the series of 16 shorts were awarded the CCA Bronze award back in 2002.
LOW MORALE
The ‘Low Morale’ series by Laith Bahrani, who was interviewed here at Cold, Hard Flash back in March of this year, is a collection of 13 shorts set in a dismal workplace. According to Laith, the series was inspired by his old day job “as a senior designer in a web/multimedia agency in the UK. ‘Low Morale’ was specifically inspired one afternoon after being yapped at by a sales person for about 20 minutes.”
DOORSTEPS
This music video for Lodger’s song of the same name was produced by London’s One Eyed Films, and it’s a dreary, depressing and sometimes humorous look at relationships. Hannes Hayha directed the video for the Finnish band, and she also animated a video for their song ‘I Love Death.’ Both videos can be seen over at Lodger’s website (Is it me, or are they channeling ‘Beck’ to a T?)
MUMBLEBOY
I’m surprised there hasn’t been more talk of Mumbleboy’s work here at Cold, Hard Flash. Mumbleboy is Kinya Hanada, a very prolific, Japanese-born artist who attend RISD in Rhode Island. He was interviewed about his software choices back in 2000 by audiodregs.com, and here’s how he responded:
When did you start doing Flash?
I had heard a lot about it from different people. I wanted to first get into Director, but it seemed too complicated and really intimidating, but then I heard about Flash and that it was really easy. I downloaded a demo version and it was pretty easy, so I kept making stuff with it.Did you start the web site before you started with Flash?
Yeah, I was just psyched about doing stuff online. It seemed like a cool thing to do. Lots of people had personal sites, and mine was kind of like that. It just had one image of a doll and I wrote a little diary, and that was about it. I just started from there.
