FlashTV On Demand Seeks Shorts

FlashTV, the San Francisco-based animation portal, recently cut a deal with Akimbo, the on-demand programming service that feeds from the internet, but plays on your TV. FlashTV is run by Nicholas Da Silva, who is also the founder of The Greatest Story Never Told, the annual digital storytelling competition.

As part of this new On Demand arrangement, FlashTV is now seeking submissions from animators interested in broadcasting their work on FlashTV and Akimbo. Animators will receive a 75/25 split of all revenue from rental or subscriptions to their work, while still maintaining complete ownership. If you’re interested in this non-exclusive deal, please contact Nicholas at nd@iwantmyflashtv.com or call 415.775.9549 for info.

According to the USA Today, “Akimbo is an interesting soup of technologies. The company sells a box that’s something like a TiVo. It has a monster hard drive that can store hundreds of hours of video and an on-screen navigation system for finding what you want. Akimbo’s box hooks to the Internet and to your TV.”

Akimbo is also now part of Microsoft’s new Media Center package, which also allows users to connect to internet content from their TV sets.
