Nate Pacheco: a Flash Renegade
Anyone familiar with Renegade Animation
knows the man behind the creative steering wheel is Darrell Van Citters, a Disney and Warner Bros. vet. But, as with any creative shop, there’s always the men and women behind the scenes making it all happen. At Renegade, Nate Pacheco is surely one of those people. He’s been at Renegade for nearly 8 years now, and he’s one of their Flash wizards that’s ushered Renegade into the forefront of the Flash animation revolution.
Nate’s work was recently highlighted over at Cartoon Brew, where readers were made aware of his blog. Nate’s been kind enough to make available several clips from his own animation reel:
A Target Halloween Spot
A ‘Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi’ music video reminiscent of Chuck Jones’ award winning ‘The Dot and The Line’
Renegade’s classic ‘Diamond Bar’ PSA
And below you can click on the video to watch a stellar hand-drawn Hilton TV spot that was produced entirely in Flash.

Any other thoughts on the YouTube videos I’m putting up? I’m experimenting with video on the site, and I’m sure I’ll eventually have that function here, but perhaps YouTube isn’t ready yet.
Does anyone like this? Despise it? Not care?

Aaron, your site is awesome and it’s number #1 for having great insights on the industry.
The You Tube transfer bandwidth throughput is less than consistent. Also, the tend to overcompress their videos to minimize their bandwidth load (just like iFilm, etc). You Tube isn’t the way paying clients are receiving the content, so, links to SWF files and Quicktime videos will always be preferable. But it’s better than nothing.
p.s. Keep up the great work!

The YouTube pre-loading timing is a little awkward, and I could go for a rewind button, but on the whole the quality is okay.

Oh! I wanted to add, links to swfs and quicktime videos are preferable for me, too, as it makes it easier to link to other places. But also, this is better than nothing!

This is a fantastic site for viewing great animation. I am no animator, but merely an admirer of excellent work. Thanks to all the talented artists.
