Mister Coo Goes Back to School

posted by admin, 4.41 PM

Ignacio Rodriguez Perez, otherwise known as Mister Coo, has animated a promotional short for National University, the second-largest private, nonprofit university in California. Mister Coo is best know for his award-winning short ‘Mister Coo,’ (or ‘Las aventuras de Mr. Coo’) which was featured here back in July of 2005.

His latest short is simply beautiful. It’s hard to believe he’s doing it all himself - with so many drawings, clever camera moves and transitions. I’m sure this plays so well internationally, as it’s essentially without dialogue.

An interesting item to note is how Mister Coo has managed to place his link at the end of the ad. It’s so non-traditional, and great for both parties, I believe. The artists on TV spots would never get a nod or a credit, but here it’s appropriate and smart.

Mister Coo works part time for Animaticos.com, an animation site owned by Barcelona-based Publy Media, and the rest of the time he does freelance work like the above-mentioned spot. It’s easy to spot which work he does at Animaticos.com - have a gander at ‘Dupliman,’ a highly-entertaining series of shorts produced for a Spanish company called Duplicat.

And lastly - word is ‘Mister Coo Part 2′ is due out soon!

‘The Adventures of Mr. Coo’ is Fantastic, I love the stylistic coloring he as has adapted in his works. The transitions from one scene to another is wittily done and wild as in the promotional short for ‘National University’
Much Kudos to You Mr. Coo, Your setting the bar a lot higher :D
