Happy Birthday Flash
I believe today marks the 10th anniversary of Flash. According to the Adobe website’s history of Flash, FutureSplash Animator first shipped in May of 1996. As you may know, FutureSplash was the precursor to Flash, and although I never used that version, I sure am grateful it came along. Happy birthday Flash!

I had a friend pick up Future Splash at that conference for 39 bucks or so…he said this product was the future of animation. Very prophetic…I should have listened to him about that stock tip too…

Yeah…Happy birthday of frustrations, headaches, and computer freezes. I hope Adobe does something right with it this time.

Holy Cow!? You mean Flash and I have the same birthday? I started out with Flash 3. I wonder if it will age better than I did?

I’ve still got my Future Splash Animator manual sitting on the shelf. You would not believe how hard it was to do simple things like make a button with it. There was no ActionScript, no alpha transparency, and a ton of other features that I’ve now become so used to that I might wake up screaming if I remembered them all.
Complain about problems with Flash all you want, but you can’t deny that it’s come a long way.
