SuperNews on Current TV
filed Under: TV Series
If you’re one of the 28 million
homes in America that gets Al Gore’s Current TV network, then you may have already fallen in love with ‘SuperNews.’ It’s the animated political satire show from the mind of self-described Independent, Josh Faure-Brac. He’s not only the created of this multi-episode series, he’s the writer, director, lead character designer and voice actor behind the majority of the characters. Oh, and his band also did the Show’s theme song.
Josh has been doing much the same thing since early in the decade, when he worked on a number of web series, including one of his own,
the animated political comedy ‘Bill and Ted,’ (Bill clinton and Ted Kennedy). He’s written for TV too, with a 2-season run on VH1’s ‘Illustrated.’
But it’s not TV that’s increasing Josh’s stock - it’s the web. Over at YouTube, his SuperNews episode ‘The Immigration Debate’ has been seen over a half-million times (Lake Popozao? Bahahahah!) No wonder Wired Magazine is calling the show “funny and edgy.”
Josh works with a small team on ‘SuperNews,’ including Steven K.L. Olson, who is credited as the Lead Animator. He has many years of Flash animation experience behind him, including work for Sesame Workshop and Disneyland.
Check out an interview with Josh over at the Current TV website or watch the Oprah episode below.
