Hobo Divine’s Magic Super Flash
Jamie Mason (or Hobo Divine) is a seasoned
animator who hailed from Sheridan College in 1991. He won awards for his original work, in particular for his 6 minute short ‘The Magic of Anansi.’ He worked on one of the original Flash animated TV shows, ‘Mucha Lucha,’ and has since worked on the ‘Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon’ project.
In 2004, he produced an album called ‘Magic Super Blast,’ and he’s also been hard at work updating his blog and producing a music video for his album. A short tease can be seen below.

You should also take a gander at Jamie’s unfinished, animated take on Sylvia Plath’s poem ‘Daddy.’

Jamie is listed as one of the directors at JC Little’s company Little Animation. His reel on that site includes this fun little short (MOV) featuring a talking planet Earth.

Beautiful work. Thanks for sneaking the unfinished “Daddy” - looking forward to the completed film. Also dig the shorts on the hobodevine blog: “leave a message” is very clever and it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a buffalo gal so “magic blast” was a, well, blast.

Wow. “The Magic of Anansi” is stunning. Beautiful designs and many very clever touches: Anansi stopping the tiger like a traffic cop, with whistle and white glove, and the snake’s outfits as he dines and drinks.
If I controlled the checkbook at Cartoon Network or Nick, I’d throw crazy money at Jamie Mason for more films.

Hey Hobo Divine! Glad you swung by. Great work - what’s the latest on your music video?
Mike - thanks for the link. I search for a while trying to find a version of that short on the web, but no luck. I just updated the post with the link.

Great stuff! Very inspirational. The music on “The Magic of Anansi” is such a good fit with the film’s whimiscal look. Thanks for sharing.
