Birthday Bash For Flash
Today is the official 10th
anniversary of the software we now call Flash. Back in 1996, it was called Future Splash, and today, it’s installed on 99% of all computers in the world! Woot!
I celebrated my own date back in May, and wondered why no one else did. I may have jumped the gun by juuuuuuust a bit, but according to the History of Flash website, the first copy of Future Splash shipped in May 1996. Well, either way, you’ve come a long way, baby!

I remember being MADE to use Futuresplash in ’94/95 and thinking “I hate this – -this thing will never take off”
