Brown Bag Releases Wobbly Work

posted by admin, 3.05 PM

Back in 2002, Brown Bag Films, an animation studio out of Dublin, probably felt like things couldn’t get much better. They’d just been nominated for an Academy Award for their short ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’:

(read Heather Kenyon’s interview with the Darragh O’Connell at AWN.com)

But four years later, they’ve got several series in the works and networks around the world are snapping up their work.

For instance, ‘I’m an Animal,’ which is aimed at kids 3-6, is a Flash-animated series distributed by Monster Distributes. Depending on where you live, you’ll be seeing this show on National Geographic, Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon. Their success lead to a follow-up series called ‘I’m a Dinosaur,’ that rolls out later this year at MIP Jr. Read more about ‘I’m an Animal’ over at AWN.com, and watch the Rhino episode below.

Beyond that, Brown Bag is producing 26 five-minute episodes of ‘Wobbly Land,’ a series created by Cat Little that “celebrates play and encourages children to use their imagination to entertain and express themselves.” The pilot was produced in Flash, but the series will be animated with Toon Boom. In fact, the studio is currently on the lookout for animators, as this production is set to get underway in September.

And, according to Cathal Gaffney, a producer at Brown Bag, the studio delivered a 10 X 3 min Flash-series for Irish teenagers called ‘Crap Rap.’ A second season is reportedly about to get underway.

Brown Bag also produced a couple TV spots in Flash – one for Coca Cola (MPG), and another for Argus Car Hire (MOV).

that John the Baptist short was pretty good! – The trouble spot for me was the VW van though, why all the shots at the beginning, it seemed a bit much. Also perspectives were off quite a bit.

I know what you were going for though, and I think you achieved it, but it seemed a little overdone though (still talking about the intro with all the VW shots).

Thelittle girls animation was real nice. loved some of her expressions.

    :o )
