Squid Dragon Legend
Okay,
who here remembers Bullseye Art? It was a Flash animation site popular back in the original dotcom run that hosted some of the most interesting, unique and, okay, odd animation on the web. According to Wikipedia, the studio started in 1995, and then in 2000 they placed 2nd in the World Animation Celebration. Soon after, they were one of the first to push Flash animation on TV with their 30-second opening for The Rosie O’Donnell Show.
While Bullseye Art may be gone,
the spirit is carried on at Magic Butter, the new home for Bullseye Art series like Miss Muffy and the Muff Mob and other new efforts.
Nick Cogan, one of the original members of this online tribe, recently released a new Flash-animated pilot called Squid Dragon Legend. It took home the Animation award at the 2006 New York Television Festival Animation award, and even scored the MSN Artistic Achievement Award.
I think you’ll agree that it has that Adult Swim vibe. Really funny characters, gorgeous BG paintings by Minh Pham and joke callbacks that had me laughing out loud.
