CHF Holiday Reaming
As we wrap up another year in Flash animation, I have a few thoughts that you are hereby required to read. Don’t blame me - it’s the system.
First, why aren’t you animating something right now?
Make that friggin’ short you’ve been talking about, and don’t come back until it’s done. The world of independent entertainment has never been more accessible, and with each passing day the internet is providing ever more avenues for you to find your audience and build on it. Seriously - start creating right fucking now.
Second, I have a little holiday treat to share. Sure the credits are about as long as the short, but if you don’t thank your team - what good are you? It’s the Official Cold Hard Flash Holiday Short, titled Don’t Get Reamed. It’s got very little to do with the holidays, and everything to do with a huge movement in 2D animation - paperless production. The fine folks at Renegade Animation call it Paperless 2D, and its the revolution the industry has been needing for a decade. Small, feisty teams, armed with Wacom Cintiq tablets have been busting out gorgeous work, all with a minimum of lead pencil shavings. I’ve got nothing against sketching a little here and there, but try to remember the last time you saw a horse on the freeway? Go get your tablet and saddle up for the revolution.
That kick-ass CHF Presents title sequence was animated by the multi-talented Keith Jones, a Londoner with After Effects skills that’ll make your mustache twirl. He’s also a web whiz, and an incredible DJ who often adds original beats to his productions. Lucky for you he just went freelance again.
Lastly, happy holidays, and thanks for coming along for the second year here on CHF. This little soapbox is a real source of joy for me, and the rapidly growing CHF army is the reason why. Season 3 will bring original CHF shorts, plenty more interviews, a line of merchandise and a few other surprises that I don’t wanna blab about just yet.

Excellent job — I enjoyed the spinning CHF logo at the beginning and really enjoyed the Cold HARD Flash audio at the end.

Great, positive message Aaron, hope the revolution makes it over the pond to the UK ’cause the talent is here, it’s just wasting away with no investment.
