Flash Animator Wins Pulitzer Prize
Yesterday, Walt Handelsman, a nationally syndicated cartoonist, was awarded his second Pulitzer Prize. This year Handelsman was awarded the prize in Editor Cartooning “for his stark, sophisticated cartoons and his impressive use of zany animation.”
Handelsman taught himself Flash animation in 2006, and he’s been breathing life into his work ever since. He takes home $10,000, and perhaps the highest honor yet bestowed upon a Flash animator. Handelman’s shorts are available for viewing at newsday.com. Congratulations, Walt!

sometimes bad animation will work to make cartoons funnier. For example SouthPark. Other times it… well… did I mention I like cheese?

that was – as both an animated piece and an editorial cartoon – insipid and uninspired. Pulitzer? “Zany”? What a sham.
