Mister Coo’s Fourth is an Adventure
Barcelona’s Ignacio (Nacho) Rodriguez has returned with the fourth installment of Mister Coo. Officially titled Las Adventuras de Mr. Coo 4, this short is a non-stop, hyperkinetic treat filled with surrealist commentary on the human condition. The subtext is dense, and perhaps a bit inaccessible, but Nacho lets us enjoy his work on many levels. For some this Flash-animated short will serve as nonsensical eye candy; for others a sometimes painful view of our subconscious.
It’s perhaps a bit early in 26-year-old Rodriguez’ career for him to earn this comparison, but the Mr. Coo series is reminiscent of Bill Plympton’s work. The drawing count is high; the subject material unique and challenging.
According to Rodriguez, he started this installment back in 2005, but added all together, the work he injected into this piece totals to about 1 month.
The short is also available for viewing at Newgrounds.com.
