Each animator out there has adapted their skills to Flash in their own unique way. It is absolutely enlightening to be offered these peeks into individual techniques. Chris’ blog is a great source of inspiration. A post about scanning torn construction paper to create backgrounds really fired my imagination. I have experimented with the technique and the results are always unique and surprising.

I first found Chris’s work in 1997, when I read his comic Feet of Clay. I was amazed at how good it was, like a melting pot of the best of Bill Watterson and Gary Larson.

I then saw his “He’s a Good Monkey” episodes, and that’s when I first started to realize the potential of online animation. This was well before Joe Cartoon had hit it big, and it was a landmark moment for me.

I hope to someday shake your hand Chris, and thank you personally for introducing me to this medium.
