Schlafman Takes Top Prize in Ecospot Contest
CHF regular David Schlafman has taken the top prize in Current TV’s Sixty Seconds to Save the Earth contest. The contest, which began in early July, was promoted by Cameron Diaz on YouTube, and then pushed by Al Gore on his blog.
Schlafman, who currently lives in Boston, submitted his Flash-animated short titled Sky Is Falling, which he created hoping people would “think about how much crap we pump into the air” The film was announced yesterday as the Grand Prize winner. For his troubles, David will drive away with a Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The short can be seen at the Current TV website, or you can watch it below.
Evan Sussman joined David in the production effort, completing all of the FX and compositing. Schlafman lauds Sussman’s work, calling him “a master of combining flash and After Effects.”

The idea is really clever, but the prize of the contest…is a car !!!
Even a “hybrid vehicle”…
Is it a joke ?

It’s equal to x amount of Elephants? Is it the mass of deadly gas that equals that much, or the weight of oil what exactly equals that many elephants?

Hey Stephen-
I did a ton of research and it’s the weight of Carbon Dioxide Gas! This was from my initial research. I found the 2006 numbers shortly afterward.
According to the Clean Air Conservancy:
In 2004, 5,973,000 Metric Tons of CO2 were pumped into the atmosphere by the US.
Metric tons=2204.6 pounds
So really there should be more elephants, but you get the idea.
