Derriman Gets Funky With Spider Monkey

posted by aaron, 4.51 AM

We’ve posted probably a half-dozen of Bernard Derriman’s Big Green Rabbit shorts, but none as elaborate as Spider Monkey. This short, animated entirely in Toon Boom, provides a great example of pose-to-pose animation - and a highly entertaining one at that. Derriman injects so much personality and playfulness into his shorts, it’s no wonder his Big Green Rabbit films have been watched almost 3 million times on YouTube alone.

wow… “elaborate” is right. The monkey animation was tight. And the background style & movement was super cool. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hey, I knew those water effects looked familiar :p. Great job on the short. Not too much reusing of elements on this one.

    Straight ahead goodness.!

    Cheers!

Fantastic animation! The music had a cool vibe too, but it’s a shame the lyrics weren’t very inspired.

Is Derriman animating these all one his own or is anyone else helping him? I see his signature style all over the place and was just wondering if any others are involved in the animation end.

Great stuff! I wish the line work on the trees wasn’t so strong. But great animation.

    hey,
i really like that one! animation very tight and really none-digital-looking, if that is a term. :)

anyway, my girlfriend and i sometimes sing the tune of bernard’s arj and poopy which is clearly the best web cartoon ever made by anyone ever. is there any chance that there will be new episodes?
