Since I’m being attacked from every angle, I’m not going to bother defending myself but to say that I feel my quality of work is above this so I don’t feel I’m completely out of bounds, but I’ll just leave it at giving better critique next time. Can we end this already and wait for people to talk about this post than attack me?

Stephen, nobody is saying you can’t have an opinion, everybody does. Critiquing others work is how we grow and see things we need to work on. I just think it’s the way you go about doing it, that’s all.

Now I’ve spoken to you in the past through emails and you know that I respect what you do so I don’t say this to be mean, but it seems to me that before you make comments about how someone’s work isn’t breaking new ground in Flash animation or something looks like typical Flash, then your own personal work should back up your statements. I visit your site from time to time and I like what I see, but it screams Flash and it’s not breaking new ground either.

I’m all for sharing opinions and hearing from others what I need to improve on but I think it needs to be done with some maturity. Not with comments like I’ve seen better or my little brother could do better.

Hey man, let’s try and find the positive in someone’s work and help each other to become better animators.

Steve –

Everyone thinks Fosters and El Tigre (canceled) are great flash animated series. That’s no reason to crap on other artists styles/ effort.

All – if you haven’t already, PLEASE please check out Steve’s portfolio. It’s everything he hates about 2D Flash design and more.

Let me know if I got this right Steve – You’re one of those kids that says he’s a “studio” when really it’s you trying to animate in your mom’s dank basement next to the washing machine.

My advice would be to spend less time posting negative comments and more on your Flash skills.

Bob,

I keep up with the industry to the extreme and am a huge flash advocate. When I say that looks like it’s made in flash, I mean it looks like typical and flashy flash animation, not the good kind like fosters or el tigre.. It’s almost as bad as animation collective work . Of course this is cold hard flash but if you look at fosters it doesn’t look so obvious that it’s made in flash. Also Foster designs are well designed and dimensional, my little brother could have made these designs.

I disagree Negative Steve. I think the character design is pretty strong on some of the characters
(Medusa and the bull from the stillshot) and yes it looks like it was animated in flash but if you somehow didnt notice this website is called Cold hard FLASH… Plenty of great shows are produced in flash these days (if you keep up with the indusrty at all you would know this…). Anyway its good to see what competition is out there for new shows. cheers to CHF!
