Seely Returns with Tiny Short
We featuerd Matthew Seely’s work back in 2007 when he was a mere high school student, and now as a student at Portland’s Pacific Northwest College of Art he returns with a new short. These Pancakes Are Tiny is what you could call a “slice of life” film, in the comedic vein of Larry David or Kevin Smith. Not much happens, but it’s all about the little things, and in this case the little things are pancakes. [NSFW]

I got a kick out of that. Conversational humor can be hard to pull off, but Seely’s timing was really nice. I laughed.

Great animation, art, humour and I love the violet outlines.

Nice job…great job with the vocal delivery…and I am not convinced that the small pancakes are as good a deal as the big ones…

That was really great stuff. Loved the acting on it, very specific. Congrats to you, sir.

Beautiful character designs, excellent detailed backgrounds, interesting color scheme with a nice blend of cools and warms, awesome animation, great timing, and very, very funny.

Complete garbage. Is this how people act these days? Small insulated worlds, speaking in an alphabet soup of trivial nonsense and expletives? Taking for granted every small freedom– not giving a damn while complaining at the same time? People like this are the living dead.

That was really, really funny. It’s hard to pull off that conversational style of humor in animation while not keeping it static, and he definitely pulled it off. Great stuff!

I like the “slice of life” feel. Well done.
