To put it simply, every version of Flash after MX 2004 is broken.

To put it geekly, in Flash 8 and on:
-You cannot copy Flash artwork and paste it into Illustrator.
-Customized hotkeys get scrambled.
-Syncing a layer during a tween will also sync the ease properties.

There are other bugs that hinder our production style that I forget, because I stay away from the later versions. If the old version works, and there's no new features that we need, why upgrade?

Post was done in After Effects.

Can't wait to see the episode! (Perhaps even watching it frame by frame!)

And why the old version, Flash MX 2004? What did you do the post production in?

Awesome interview! Love all the details, especially how Pringle broke down the character builds.. It made sense to me and it's just refreshing to hear the technical side of production especially on such a large IP like PPG.

Anyone know what version of Flash they used?

I didn't like the special. It didn't feel at all like the older episodes: everybody was talking really, REALLY fast, Prof. Utonium seemed completely different (like he suddenly developed a bad case of ADHD), and the gestures seemed very odd. For example, I wish I had counted the number of times anybody stuck out their tongue. It was very out of place. Also, why was there so much butt shaking and pelvic thrusting? That seemed like something I'd see on Chowder or Flapjack, not the action-heavy PPG. Finally, some of the references seemed a little too random, such as the dramatic gopher turn, and switching from Wacky Racers to Speed Racer to Mario Kart in about a second. Like Tori mentioned, this should have been extended to an hour slot to, at the very least, slow everybody down.

As a flash artist, I kinda wish it was never publicized that TPPGR was animated completely in flash. Though it is quite an accomplishment and looks amazing, reading what viewers on Toonzone.net had to say about it being in flash reassures me that flash still has a bad bad stigma. Makes me wonder, what's the point of trying to continue to push the boundaries.
