COLD HARD FLASH
Flash Empowers

An 2317-year old animator, who goes by Kevin L., created this “fanimation” that blends two animated projects into one. The visuals are obviously from The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, but the song, It’s Like It Was Meant to Be, is sung by Strong Bad from Homestar Runner. Kevin had help from his friend Larsan artist on fansite flapjackfan.com. The clip is titled K’nuckles in Meant to Be.

The song can be found on the fourth disc of the Strong Bad Emails DVD.

iMock Your iPhone

It’s no secret that owning an iPhone makes you smarter, taller, more interesting and, well…. a little annoying. Okay, we’re all just jealous, but that doesn’t make this Flash-animated short any less funny. Cell Phone Reunion, a Collegehumor.com original, was written by Sam Reich and Mike Parker who also handled the animation.

I’ve always got my eyes on projects that are “in the oven.” Many animators and animation teams use the web to tease a project that’s still in production, and I’ll spot an animatic or a blog post about these, and track them to completion. Right now I’m watching several, but three in particular have got my full attention.

First up is Kyle Marshall’s The 3 Amigonauts: Doin’ the Doo. Last year, Marshall brought us Triumphant Campaigns of Captain Cudney, which really blew me away. Below is the first shot from Amigonauts, which he designed and colored in Photoshop, but then assembled in Flash.
