FWAK Launches Fantastic ToonBoom-Bastic
FWAK! Animation’s Eddie Mort and Lili Chin, the amazing duo who created ¡Mucha Lucha!. and the Flash-feature Los Campeones De La Lucha Libre, have started a great new blog – TOONBOOM-BASTIC. It’s all about the new Toon Boom software Animate, which launched late last year. You’ll see the twosome building shots, displaying software features and discussing their opinions on Animate, as well as Storyboard Pro. Here’s a video illustrating a cool trick with the Z-axis that helps create simple depth to a character.

It’s so much easier to do the same thing in Anime Studio Pro, which costs @200.

This looks really complex. Why would you need a graph chart just to bring an object in front or behind another object? Soon enough it’s going to be faster, easier, and cheaper to animate with a pencil and paper again.

Looks a little complex for such a minute detail, I will stick with Flash for now.

Truth is you don’t need it – it’s just an added feature that’s there if you want to use it.
Animate is as complex – or as simple – as you want to make it.
Personally, after over 10 years of working in Flash I am enjoying working with software that does all the things Flash does and more

TOdd – I think the graph chart would be useful if you want to inbetween something that goes “around” something else (from behind to in front. I think you might also be able control easing in and easing out.
