Episode 6 of Oddbot Inc’s online series Freaky Robots has emerged. The series, which was created and directed by Christopher Hamilton, is set in a world where robots have taken control, and one man, Jeremy, has disguised himself as a robot to fit in. This episode, titled The Great Debate, tackles the topic of role playing games and their effectiveness in landing female companionship. Animation was handled by Zachary Aufdemberg, Daisy Church, Damon O’Keefe and Crystal Stromer.

Jossie Malis’ animated shadow-puppet series, Bendito Machine, has won multiple awards around the world. His iconic production design paired with his allegorical storytelling makes for a memorable, poignent experience. The third installment, simply titled Bentito Machine III, tackles the power of television and the internet. It gives new meaning to the worldwide success of Simon Fuller’s Idol series (which spawned American Idol, Nouvelle Star, Indian Idol, etc….).

Malis has also been busy producing a music video for the French metal band Gojira, and setting up an online giclee print store, called Printastic, that features work from several artists you may be familiar with.

Amy Winfrey, the creator of Nicktoons’ Making Fiends, has debuted the second episode of her series Squid and Frog. The project first debuted in December of last year, and it stands apart from her other work in that it includes both puppets and Flash-animated characters. This episode, titled Surgery, features a cautionary song that urges viewers to leave the bone sawing to professionals.

Over at the Australian Doritos website, a competition is underway. Hoping for the success of the Super Bowl campaign by their American group, Doritos and their agency, Clemenger BBDO, have arranged for a $20,000 prize for the best 29-second ad, and I spotted at least one Flash-animated submission. Here’s Destroy Your Hunger with Doritos, which was submitted by Franky, an animation student living in Brisbane. If you like it, go vote for him on the Doritos website (search for ‘Francis’).
