Now for a short note on persistence. Of the 60+ interviews I’ve posted here at ColdHardFlash, my discussion with Joey So and Todd Kauffman was number two. This was back in 2005, and the twosome were invited by the Canadian network Teletoon to produce Sidekick, a short series for their Funpak block. In Flash, they created 5 shorts, a process well detailed in the 2-part interview.

Now, 4 years on, Sidekick has been picked up by Cartoon Network. Persistence has paid off. Congrats guys! Here’s a trailer they cut for MIP:

The Minnesota Adobe User Group recently invited the Puny Entertainment gang to give a presentaion on Basic Enhanced Reality with Flash. I think the best way to describe the process is live motion-capture animation using Flash and a webcam. Have a look at this demo below and imagine the possibilities…. (Not THOSE possibilities. Pervert!)

Here’s something to wake you up on a Monday morning – High Kittie by Gary Doodles. This fecal-focused, 2-minute, Flash-animated episode, titled Poop Quiz, is Doodles’ very first webtoon. I can imagine some folks will poke at Kittie’s Spongebob-esque voicework (a strong performance by Jim Woods), but I try to focus on the other highly original stuff packed into this little short. Big props to Mr. Doodles for the production aesthetic, the wacky animation, tight timing – and the overall insanity of the short. I love how the teacher rides in on a dolphin, and Kittie points a gun at Boy near the end. It’s unhinged. Can’t wait for more! (NOTE: yes, we’re aware that it’s 4/20)

We’ve featured the stylish CG cut scenes from Ubisoft’s Rayman Raving Rabbids video game over on Lineboil a bunch, but I just confirmed that the cut scenes in the TV Party game are produced with Flash in France. Pretty cool stuff, I might add:
