You may have spotted this over at Lineboil this week – the latest Flash-animated episode of Cartoon Cannon. We take on Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, which has already grabbed $500 million in worldwide box office. Too bad Scrat isn’t around to enjoy the riches…

Animax Entertainment’s Flash-animated series Bob & Doug, is reportedly scoring high ratings up in Canada, landing in the Top 10 shows on the network. The team at Animax probably isn’t watching though – they’re too busy on their next series Popzilla, a Flash-animated comedy for MTV that’s currently in production at their Van Nuys studio. Canadians can watch full episodes of Bob & Doug at globaltv.com, and the rest of us can see some on YouTube. Here’s the first third of episode 6, Bob Falls in Love. One of the things that stood out for me when I first learned my way around Toon Boom Animate was the color palette. It’s got intelligent color management that allows you to pair a color with an object – the equivalent of saying pants=blue. Down the road, if you want to change those pants to green, and on multiple drawings, it’s as easy as shifting that color — once. While Flash obviously has its advantages too, it faulters in this regard, as you can see in this video below:

Flash-animated iPhone games are popping up like mushrooms. This one, by Joe Cartoon appears to have been created while taking mushrooms. It’s called Blend the Boss:

… and one from the Happy Tree Friends team, called Slap Happy:

Speaking of games, here’s some Flash-animated gameplay footage from a Virtual Puppy that UK-animator Paul Nicholson created for Cartoon Network’s Boomerang website. Nice stuff!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a big hit with critics, but as it opens in theaters today the true measure will be the box office.
