Cross Pulls Yellow Cake From the Oven
Rejoice! Nick Cross has delivered his new short film, Yellow Cake, as a direct-to-internet release. The Flash-animated project is a brilliantly-designed political metaphor that examines oppression, uprising and terrorism. I highly-recommend setting aside 8-minutes this morning to enjoy Cross’ latest feat. The backgrounds alone are worth a look.

totally awesome. i really love the filter overtop of everything, i think a lot of digital animation obsesses over crispness. this is unabashedly celebrating desaturated color and a little well considered blur [for lack of a better term]. it really helps blend things together. the color choices are fantastic too.
the story itself is definitely one we need to think about right now too.
great work nick cross, wherever you are!

Nick,
Congrats on finishing! – The film is fantastic in story, design and animation. IT all fits with your classic TV music very well too.
We all wish we could be doing this, keep up the great work.
