Dashkin Short Builds Bitey’s Backstory
With the Brackenwood feature under way, Former-Disney artist Adam Phillips still found some time to knock out a new short. While still a big fan of Toon Boom, Phillips animated this short in Flash over a 4 week period, and it is the first to feature a voice-over – all quite professionally done, I might add. We learn a great deal here about one of Adam’s most famous characters – Bitey. And we also get more world-class effects, like this inset water shot (a rough animation screen grab illustrating some digital onion-skinning). Head over to Adam’s website to view The Last of the Dashkin (11 mb Flash file).

I love how you slip that feature thing in as if it’s no big deal haha.
I liked this short, but I don’t think it was so necessary. Won’t the feature reveal all this without having to narrate it? Just a personal opinion, but I’d rather be shown than told.

The narration is a good idea. It might have to be dubbed for different audiences. Fine animation and design. It will be interesting to see how this is distributed.
