Puny Entertainment and the sketch team Splendid Things paired up to create this new 4-minute short titled Phillip the Safety Egg. It’s full of freshly cooked insanity like bacon bazookas and 100 foot tall chickens. The Flash-animated short was written and directed by Puny’s Mike Owens, developed by Puny boss Shad Petosky and Will Shepard. The Splendid Things team, which is comprised of Eric Knobel, Hannah Kuhlmann and Michael Ritchie, voiced and wrote the piece the day of the record.

You may have seen this last month, but it somehow slipped past me. It’s a clip from HBO’s upcoming animated series The Ricky Gervais Show, which premieres on February 19th. It’s being animated in Flash at the W!LDBRAIN offices in Sherman Oaks, and the characters were designed by the mighty Craig Kellman. It utilizes audio from Gervais’ podcast, which he broadcasts along with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington.

South Africa’s Michael Robertson and Denise Robertson animated this new spot for Shaw Internet. The Flash-animated ad was produced and directed by Tennant Mckay. The spot is titled Paperboy.

By way of ArthurCox, award-winning directors Felix Massie and Mark Simon Hewis both collaborated on a Flash-animated film that’s been nominated for a BAFTA. Along with The Gruffalo and The Happy Duckling, Emma Lazenby’s Mother of Many is up for the Short Animation award at the 2010 British British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards. Like Sally Arthur, the film’s producer, my wife and I are expecting a child soon, so I found myself watching perhaps a little closer than normal. Here’s a clip:
