New Abstract Animation From Toonbox
Here’s the latest short from the Russian studio Toonbox. It’s based on a poem by Sasha Svirsky, an artist working at the studio. It’s in Russian, and the story deals with an abstract word, Khabrahol, imagined by Svirsky and the word’s untimely fate.

Well, I speak fluent russian and I could barely follow that. I didn’t hear anything about Svirsky, but I’m pretty sure that was a poem by him. I have no idea what it’s about, since half of that sounded like made-up words. Sorry I can’t be more help. :\

Nice comic-book look.
The one bit of animation that stood out for me was the one man dancing(*putting his feet forward)
PS(*GENE)- I watched this without sound, so maybe that was a good thing(?)

I don’t understand Russian at all but that was sure fun to look at. I love the style.

GENE – i had my facts wrong, and got an email from Paul Mountian at Toonbox setting the record straight. i’ve since updated the post to reflect that.
