Mark Gravas at Kapow Pictures directed this new music video for the Hard-ons’ song Pretend It’s Vanilla. Aaron Powell and Colin Bigelow headed up a team that used Flash for all of the character animation. It’s a story of revenge and hand-tools.
Here’s a new Flash-animated piece from Josh Hart and Jon Izen, the creator of Black and White and co-creator of Yam Roll. 9 Things I saw last Wednesday is more of a meditation than a short.
Anthony Holden bit off a big challenge with his final project at Brigham Young University. Mashed, his 5-minute animated short, includes elaborate character animation, action, robots and multiple locations. To pull it off, he invited in a small army of friends who helped with the digital ink and paint, but Holden performed all of the design and animation himself. From storyboards to final compositing, the process too an entire year, and it shows. Really engaging, beautifully designed, and highly entertaining. The musical composition is worth noting, as it was all original, and the young Richard Williams took home a Student Emmy for his work on the project. Make sure you watch through until the end to get the full story. Congrats on graduating, Anthony!

The game is due for release in December 2010. Here’s a short look at one of the cinematics, which don’t appear to include a great deal of animation or elaborate lip-sync, but the layouts and models look great.
