We’ve featured Andy Sykes animated shorts and promos here on CHF a number of times, and today we’re featuring the first episode of his Flash Animation Tutorials. Aside from creating funny shorts for the web, he’s also a teacher at a few universities in the UK. To date, he’s completed a total of 46 video tutorials, which are all cateloged on his website. Here’s the first, which sets up the whole effort:
Sheridan College graduate Stephen Daymond created this final film back in 2007, but he’s just released on the web this week. It’s titled Specimen B-28, a sci-fi short that’s lead to an ongoing online comic effort. The voice acting is pretty ‘sleepy’ and the pacing is a bit sleepier, but the designs are all super solid, as is the animation.

The CalArts Open show isn’t far off, so we’re seeing all sorts of year-end shorts arriving on the web. One Flash-animated piece caught my eye. It’s a 1st-year film by Charlotte Marie Jackson, titled Sweet Savage Love. The animation is a bit herky-jerky, but it’s worth a look. Jackson also used Photoshop and After Effects.
