Joe Cartoon, the site responsible for the famous Frog in a Blender, is tossing its hat in the 2008 Presidential race. Well, they’re actually tossing in a blender and giving you control of the switch. As noted on the USA Today blog, visitors to the Blender Poll 2008 website can save a candidate from the blender, or give them a 4-blade spin of death. The site allows you to vote as many times as you like “just like you would in a real eletion.” Below is a Flash-animated teaser for the new site.

Chris Georgenes, the man behind Mudbubble and keyframer.com packed the house in Boston for his 2007 Flashforward presentation Animation Tips and Tricks. Georgenes, a self-taught animator, invited a special guest to his presentation – his daughter, Andrea, who also happens to star in several of Chris’ shorts. As promised, Georgenes posted all of the FLA files from his presentation so we can all dive in and tinker. Below is the opening clip from his presentation.

Taking part in a brand makeover, The Brothers McLeod have created a 3-minute ‘making of’ video. The UK-based brothers Greg and Myles display the process that went into making a set of ads for Calvita, an Irish cheese. If you get through to the end, you’ll see a sneak preview from one of the spots.

A note to Los Angeles-based readers… Doug Bresler, the creator of Doogtoons and the animator behind “Weird Al” Yankovic’s animated Trapped in the Drive-Thru short, will be hosting a free seminar at the Santa Monica Apple Store this Saturday at 3pm. According to Bresler’s site, he’ll be giving a behind-the-scenes look at his most popular Flash-animated shorts and insight into the animation process. The event, titled Making Cartoons the Doogtoons Way, is scheduled to last 2 hours.

Bresler has also been animating on a popular GoPotato.tv series called Eli’s Dirty Jokes. Here’s the latest episode titled The Farmer’s Daughters.

Dublin-based animation studio Boulder Media is forging into the original production world with their new property Carter and Son. The new action-adventure series concept was created by Boulder’s Emmy-nominated Creative Director Robert Cullen, and it “follows the adventures of Master Illusionist Jonathan Carter and his twelve year old son Charlie who possess psychic and telekinetic abilities.” The Boulder team is shopping the property in Cannes at MIPCOM 2007, which is only weeks away. Boulder Media has added their stamp to some of the best Flash-animated series on air, including Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and El Tigre.
