Over 3 years ago, we posted a clip from Louis de La Taille’s Flash-animated short Un Grand Garçon (A Big Boy). This 4:30 minute short follows a young boy who is on the verge of becoming a young man, in more ways than one. The short has been finished for quite some time now, but it has been touring in competition, so the official online release has been delayed. [NSFW - female nudity]

Today being 4/20, there’s bound to be some crazy-ass shit releasing around the world. One such item is The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie! DVD, which hits shelves at 4:20pm today in 420 stores for the low-low price of $4.20. Okay, it’s $14.99, but that’s not a weed joke.

With that out of the way, I’d like to begin celebrating the DVD’s release, along with the team at Six Point Harness Studios, who produced the DVD right here in Hollywood. They took the Comedy Central series that was animated traditionally in South Korea, and re-imagined it as a Flash production, easily mimicking the production values, and often going above and beyond.

In this behind-the-scenes video below, you’ll learn that the pilot was actually produced in Flash, and this feature-length production is sort of a “make good” on that clunky effort. You’ll hear from series creators/writers Dave Jeser and Matt Silverstein who offer high praise to 6PH, and then there’s some lengthy discussion with director Greg Franklin, animation producer Andy Fiedler and editor Tony Christopherson. Huge congrats to the whole team at Six Point – looks great and I’ll see you tonight at the premiere.

Todd Kauffman and Mark Thornton have been hard at work for the past couple years, directing the hit show Total Drama Island (which is now Total Drama World Tour for season 3). But Kauffman and Thornton are also co-founders of Neptoon Studios, where they’ve been baking a new adult-oriented animated series. The Commercial Show is an office-based comedy in the vein of The Office, that follows Danni, a producer at an ad agency. Cut into the workplace activity are the outrageous and often low-brow TV spots she’s producing. Here’s one of those, titled Stemcell, and below that is an animatic segment featuring Danni:

The premiere of HBO’s news animated series The Ricky Gervais Show is less than 2 weeks away (February 19th), and I spotted some additional Flash animated footage. Animation by W!LDBRAIN.
