Swedes Connect Kinect to Flash

Last year, we saw some clever folks turn the Xbox Kinect game device into a motion capture tool. Now, the Swedish team at X-Com are using connect along with Flash to render some rudimentary character animation. I’ve never been a big fan of the results of motion-capture, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon, but it’s an interesting application of the technology.

Sidekick Stars on Cartoon Network in June

Check out this trailer for Mt. Feathertop, a new, Flash-animated short from Happy Pappy, a multi-platform design agency. The short, which was created by Nath Milburn and Patrick Gilmore, is currently being submitted to festivals and competitions.

Back in February, we featured the teaser for a new, Flash-animated TV series out of Russia, titled Qumi-Qumi. In this first, 13-minute episode below, you’ll see that it’s full of world-class design, both in characters and environments. The look is also quite unique, especially the characters. The series was created at Moscow-based Toonbox Studio, and in each episode you’ll visit a world inhabited by creatures divided into three nations who all speak one completely made-up language. This episode was directed by Vladimir Ponomarev and produced by Pavel Muntyan.

Dick Figures Pwns Season 1 Finale

The 10th episode of Dick Figures was revealed yesterday, capping off the first season Star-Wars-style. What was also revealed, in the season-ending credits, was that Six Point Harness is the production company delivering the biweekly show, while Ed Skudder and Zack Keller remain the driving force behind the stick figure comedy. Big congrats to the cast and crew on a huge first season – over 9 million views and counting (quickly). You’ll have to wait a month for the start of season two, which ain’t bad, considering there’s often 4 or 5 months of darkness between South Park seasons. Now off to the ragging space battle.
