If you’ve followed CHF for a few years now, you’ll know that we’re nutbags about Jon Izen’s stuff – in particular Yam Roll (created along with Jono Howard and Dan Sioui) and Black and White. So you can imagine our excitement when we got wind of a new project, again created with March Entertainment. Princess Mimi and her Tiny Bud Grumpy Gus is the brainchild of Howard and Izen, who also designed and directed. Ivan Rusev added his animation skills to the mix, and voila – a brand new series concept has emerged. Whatdyathink?
A new Flash-animated TV series is ready to claw its way into your house. Kid vs Kat is a new comedy series aimed at children ages 6-11 “about the exaggerated conflict between a demonically malevolent cat and the beleaguered ten-year-old boy to whom it has taken a demented dislike.” The show, which is produced by Studio B Productions along with with YTV Canada and Jetix Europe, is rolling out around the world – including Canada (YTV), Europe (Jetix), South East Asia (Nick) and Australia (ABC). Rob Boutilier created the show. Here’s the title sequence:

Last month, the preschool channel Noggin began airing Toot & Puddle. The half-hour series, which is based on the illustrated book series by Holly Hobbie, is being directed by Christian Larocque at Mercury Filmworks. The show about two pig pals is also airing on Treehouse TV in Canada. The team is using Toon Boom Harmony to bring the show to life.
Produced by Breakthrough Animation, Jetix Europe and TELETOON, Jimmy Two Shoes was all the buzz at this Fall’s MIPCOM Junior event, booking the most screenings of any other series. The project, which was created by Edward Kay and Sean Scott (Doodlez), puts Jimmy in Miseryville, the most miserable place on Earth. Jimmy then annoys the hell out of everyone with his torrent of optimism. In early 2009, the series will begin on TELETOON and Jetix Europe. I also noticed that Mercury Filmworks is on the team.
Thanks to Ron Doucet for the story tip.
Skunk Fu!, which airs in the US on Cartoon Network, has also aired on KidsWB! and CW4Kids. The series was created by Aidan Harte and Hyun Ho Khang, who were probably pinching themselves when they landed Ghostface Killah, member of the Wu-Tang Clan, to sing the title track. The series was animated at Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon, and here’s the Flash-animated 2:30 minute full-length title sequence.
