If you’ve been scanning the news today, you may have seen the big YouTube channels announcement. I’m thrilled to announce that Mondo Media is one of the partners joining the party. As you may know, I head up development at Mondo, and we’re now looking for dozens of new series to fund or co-produce. Whether you’re a writer, producer, animator or designer, you’re encouraged to submit pitches for short-form, animated comedy series, primarily aimed at college-aged guys. Los Angeles animators, writers, producers and CHF fans are all invited to tomorrow’s One Plus Hub event at the Formosa Cafe in West Hollywood. John Evershed and I will be there representing Mondo Media, and discussing distribution of animated series on platforms like YouTube and Hulu. After years of waiting for a business model to build up around the flood of online series, Mondo is leading this new online explosion. Since I’ve been working at Mondo Media, we’ve produced only a few new Happy Tree Friends episodes, and no KA-POW! installments. They’re not cheap to make, and we’ve been scratching our heads on how to get more into the oven. Kickstarter seemed like the logical next step, and so the Mondo Art Department has put together a plan that will raise the money while also getting some great limited-edition t-shirts and posters in the fan’s hands. I hope you’ll join me in wishing Edd Gould (Eddsworld) a speedy recovery from his 2nd bout with Leukemia as it’s spelled in New York, or Leukaemia as it’s spelled in Old York. More particularly, Gould has acute lymphoblastic leukemias, a cancer that attacks your white blood cells. Here’s Edd’s announcement, which includes an appearance by his pal TomSka (Tom Ridgewell). I’m helping out a friend who is searching for a private Flash-animation tutor. Details below:

• Working with 2 grade-school children in the Santa Barbera area
• Looking for animator who enjoys teaching and working with children
• Objective is to walk kids through an animated short from beginning to end, introducing the kids to the creative and technical process of animation
• Dates: December 27th to December 30th
• 6 to 8 hour days
• $400 per day
• A hotel room in the area will be provided if needed

REQUIREMENTS

• must be able to supply Cintiq tablet for the lessons
• must provide reasonably good microphone for voice recording
• must have audio editing software and abilily to see a short film from beginning to end
• must provide own transportation to Santa Barbera
