Fernanda Ribeiro just graduated from the Vancouver Film School, but no before producing this Flash-animated short. Cup of Tea is a 2-minute piece about a young girl who will try nearly anything to revive her frozen grandmother.

Barone’s Student Short – Tough West

Here’s Henrique Barone’s latest film from his studies at the Vancouver Film School. It’s titled Tough West, in which you’ll see Barone’s very firm grasp on background layouts, composition and color. A critique I’ll toss in – the short isn’t quick on the draw. We linger too long on the opening shots, and don’t keep the pace throughout. But a solid film – congrats, Henrique!

Claire Niebergall is currently studying at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentratiion on animation and graphic design. Her latest project merges an anatomical study with some Halloween flavoring. The piece is titled Chimaera, a creature also known as a ghost shark. Spooky!

Student Short Rises Out of Tufts University

Louie Zong, an animator studying at Tufts University, has been working on this new short below since March. Hanna-Barbera cartoons served as inspiration for The Sun Also Rises, which focuses on a pair of kids in search of a new home.

O’Neill Set To Release Fine Work at OIAF

Milburn Summits Mt. Feathertop

Nath Milburn’s graduation film from Savannah College of Art & Design is a 10-minute, Flash-animated short titled http://www.mtfeathertop.com (which we teased back in April). We’re introduced to a group of clouds who attend a prestigeous academny that helps students learn weather control. Milburn gave himself the challenge of producing a TV pilot in a relatively short period of time. He had help on the animation effort from Xavier Robles de Medina, Jeremiah Gallardo and Xavier Palin.

Sungin’s Flash-Animated Mutant

Hong Sungin used Flash, Photoshop, After Effects and SketchUp in the production of his 4-minute student short Mutant. A few years back, Sungin attended Sangmyung University in Seoul, South Korea, and he’s now working at INNOIZ Interactive. We don’t often see full-on manga-style animation produced in Flash, and it’s pretty refreshing.

Zhang Invites You To Be Quiet

Henry Zhang, a student attending the UCLA Animation Workshop, directed and animated this new short, titled Be Quiet. The 3-minute film was produced using Flash and After Effects.
