In 2006 at Gobelins, the French animation school, Jean-Nicolas Arnoux created this Flash-animated short titled Professeur Jean-Tiburce. You’ll recognize Arnoux’s signature font design in his traditionally-animated group project from 2007 – Emile et les fabuleux petits monsieurs.

Ryan Guimond, an animation student at the Illinois Institute of Art, animated his short, Lunch Date, on paper first. Then he scanned the drawings, inked them and colored the drawings in Flash. Guimond, who obviously holds John K’s work in high regard, describes that the whole process took about a month.

Ian Milne’s first Flash film at Vancouver Film School was created in one month. You can see the ominous, 3-minute, untitled short below. Milne is studying Classical Animation at VFS, and you can see more of his work on his blog.

Max Lang, a German student at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, has created a beautiful parable about fitting in, conformity and the power of independent thinking. Modul is a 4-minute Flash-animated short without dialog, but the message comes through loud and clear – complete with exceptional timing and engaging sound design. Lang and the film’s producer Stina McNicholas have created a highly enjoyable short that will likely land many international awards.

Matthew Seely, a high school student, has found web-fame on Newgrounds for his short A Heart for the Hero, which is a tribute to The Legend of Zelda, what Seely calls “the best video game ever.” Seely is off to Pacific Northwest College of Art this coming year, and I can only imagine how strong his work will be at the end of these four years.
