First-year CalArts student Sang Lee used Photoshop to create the environments in this short, and Flash for the character animation. In Hell’s Registrar, we meet the first person you’d meet in the pit of Hell. The designs are solid, and there’s some fun posing and composition going on here, but you’ll also see some choppy, jumpy animation throughout.

Cheyenne Curtis has wrapped up her studies at Sheridan College, but not before producing a final film. The Wish Thief is “about a mischievous hobo who gets joy out of stealing childrens wishes from fountains” and Curtis used Flash, Photoshop and After Effects in the production.

Sheridan College graduate Stephen Daymond created this final film back in 2007, but he’s just released on the web this week. It’s titled Specimen B-28, a sci-fi short that’s lead to an ongoing online comic effort. The voice acting is pretty ‘sleepy’ and the pacing is a bit sleepier, but the designs are all super solid, as is the animation.

The CalArts Open show isn’t far off, so we’re seeing all sorts of year-end shorts arriving on the web. One Flash-animated piece caught my eye. It’s a 1st-year film by Charlotte Marie Jackson, titled Sweet Savage Love. The animation is a bit herky-jerky, but it’s worth a look. Jackson also used Photoshop and After Effects.
