Dragon Age: Legends, EA’s popular Facebook game, includes an intense opening cinematic that was animated by none other than Adam Phillips. It was animated over 48 days using Animate Pro 2.

Phillips Reveals Dashkin Cinematic Opening

Adam Phillips, the mastermind behind the Brackenwood saga, is getting set to release his Daskin game (which he created along with Sean McGee). Below you’ll see the opening cinematic for the game, and soon you’ll be able to play it for free at bitey.com. Phillips used Toon Boom Animate Pro to create the animated elements. In the final freeze-frame shot, most of you will spot the game’s title, but it is laid in there subtly.

Phillips and Jane Go Into the Woods

Adam Phillips, who is nearly finished with his game, Dashkin, which now has a sponsor. He’s producing the art assets in ToonBoom Animate Pro, and exporting SWFs into Flash. Sponsor contracts are being drawn up for this pairing, and in the meantime, Phillips found time to produce a music video for Cilla Jane, a Melbourne-based independent singer/songwriter. You’ll recognize Phillips’ signature style, but we’re introduced to a few new characters in this video, which was also produced in using ToonBoom. The track is titled Into the Woods, which you can buy on iTunes.

Phillips In League With Dungeons & Dragons Red Box Launch

Australian animation maestro Adam Phillips designed and animated this new D&D promotional short. It coincides with the launch of the 4th edition of the Dungeons & Dragons Red Box, a starter set designed to welcome new players into the RPG. Phillips used Toon Boom Storyboard Pro and Toon Boom Animate Pro 2 to bring this short, titled RedBox Ninjas, to life.

Derriman Pops Out Amazing Annecy Contest Entry

Last Friday we posted Cedric Villain’s submission for the Annecy 50th Anniversary contest on YouTube. While that was a well-executed short, I’m going to predict that the winning submission was posted today. It’s by Bernard Derriman, the brilliant animator from Sydney, Australia. You know him from his series Arj and Poopy and the dozen other shorts we’ve posted of his shorts we’ve posted here throughout the years. Playing off the theme of “birthdays or celebration,” Derriman has uncorked an excellent little film. Pop pits a chicken versus a fox in champagne-soaked battle that should have the judges drunk with enthusiasm. Derriman had help from long-time friend, and fellow countryman, Adam Phillips, who helped launch the bazooka champagne effects.

Pros Illustrate How to Animate in Flash and Toon Boom

Nick Cross and Adam Phillips are two of my favorite animators, regardless of which software they choose. Cross has brought us wonderful eyecandy like Waif of Persephone, Yellow Cake and his latest endeavor The Pig Farmer, which is still in production. Phillips is the grand master of Flash animation, King of Newgrounds and a wizard of effects. His Brackenwood shorts series seems like an impossible achievement for one animator, and to blow our minds further, he’s got a feature in the works.

This month, Cross and Phillips have both revealed some of the secrets behind their work. Phillips has moved almost exclusively over to Toon Boom Animate, while Cross is pushing through The Pig Farmer in Flash. Below we’re treated to a glimpse into their production process:

Phillips Illustrates His Animation Process

Brackenwood boss Adam Phillips has already unloaded the contents of his brain into his online Animation Academy, and now he’s turning to video. Never doing anything halfway, Phillips has begun uploading a 33-part demonstration of his process of animating in Flash CS3. He uses scenes from The Last of the Dashkin, which he released at the end of last year, and while it’s not delivered as a tutorial, you can surely pick up some great tips. Here’s part 1:

With the Brackenwood feature under way, Former-Disney artist Adam Phillips still found some time to knock out a new short. While still a big fan of Toon Boom, Phillips animated this short in Flash over a 4 week period, and it is the first to feature a voice-over – all quite professionally done, I might add. We learn a great deal here about one of Adam’s most famous characters – Bitey. And we also get more world-class effects, like this inset water shot (a rough animation screen grab illustrating some digital onion-skinning). Phillips’ Encounter With Lady of Pain

Australia’s Adam Phillips (Brackenwood series) recently teamed up with writer/voice actor Ryan Miller on a new short for Wizards of the Coast. It’s titled Lady of Pain (referencing the D&D character), and in this short our host Mike tries to win her cold hand in a skill challenge. Phillips used Toon Boom Storyboard Pro and Toon Boom Animate Pro.

Derriman and Phillips Invade Kenny’s World

For the Australian mockumentary TV series Kenny’s World, Bernard Derriman was called upon to create a number of interstitial animated segments. His weapon of choice on this project was Toon Boom, and Derriman brought on his friend and countryman Adam Phillips to help with effects animation and backgrounds. A half-dozen of these are over on YouTube, and below are two of my favorites:
