Doritos and Dye Crash the Super Bowl

Allan Dye, who won the MyToons contest back in September, is going for the gold again. Doritos has launched their Crash the Super Bowl contest, which encourages filmmakers to submit a 30-second spot that could end up airing during Superbowl XLIII in February 2009. Dye’s submission is titled Spicy Nacho vs. Giant Robot, and if you click the “play” button below you can watch it. If you like it, go leave a comment.

Dye Grabs MyToons Grand Prize

Allan Dye, an animator we’ve written about a number of times before, has picked up the Grand Prize in MyToons’ Get with the Times! HD Animation Contest. His Flash-animated short A.D.D. Jane has landed him a number of prizes include an Adobe’s Creative Suite 3: Master Collection and a trip to NYC where he’ll see his short broadcast on the giant Clear Channel video billboard in Times Square. Dye Trying To Get Taxes Done

Below, Allan Dye introduces us to Last Minute Man in the nick of time. This superhero of financial responsibility reminds us Americans that it’s Tax Day! Allan submitted this Flash-animated short as part of Channel Frederator’s Tax Day A GoGo project, where animators were encouraged to send in 2-5 second animations reminding people to do their taxes. But, seriously – finish your taxes.

Dye Goes Green With Pottery Barn

San Francisco-based artist/animator Allan Dye has teamed up with Pottery Barn to help get the word out about their organic cotton products. Pottery Barn, a subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma, asked internal Media Producer Scott Young to create a video that and the result is a 2:30 minute Flash-animation titled Organic Living With the Greens. The video is currently playing on the Pottery Barn Kids website.

Animators Take Valentine’s Day to Heart

Eric Pringle’s Prophet Buddy series has spawned a Valentine’s Day episode titled A Valentine’s Treat. In this all new episode, Mouse gives Cat a gift from the bottom of his heart… or at least his bottom.

A.D.D. Jane Trailer

Allan Dye, an illustrator and animator living in San Francisco, has completed a new, 4-minute cartoon. A.D.D. Jane is aimed at the festival circuit, but in the meantime Dye has released a trailer.

If Allan is seeking any partners for this (i.e. TV) I could imagine the whole ‘A.D.D.’ part of this world being a bit sticky. Using a relatively common developmental disorder as a ‘character quirk’ might come off as a bit insensitive, unless the series actually tackles the real issues an afflicted child might face. I think a simple title change would fix that. Congrats on wrapping up the project, Allan.
