Quiff and Boot Episodes Add Up For McLeods

The Brother McLeod were recently hired by BBC Learning to produce a series of 22 shorts that help youngsters sort out their math skills. The 2-minute, Flash-animated shorts utilize the McLeod’s signature design style, plus the twosome wrote and produced the series, titled Quiff and Boot. Here’s one titled Calculators.

McLeods Roll Miss Marble Into Sticks Episode

Miss Marble is the title of the latest episode of the Brothers McLeod’s series Sticks. This episode is a proper murder mystery set in a world of nuts. FYI… a ‘conker’ is a variety of chestnut. The series is produced for BBC Comedy.

Burnett and Wood Concoct BBC Science Project

Seb Burnett designed and directed this new pilot for a BBC science series. Peculiar Patents was produced for WONKY Films by way of BBC Scotland, and Burnett worked with a familiar conspirator, Joe Wood , who animated the piece in Flash (not sure why the quality is so crappy):

Beakus Team Gets Their Hands On History

Beakus founder Steve Smith recently directed his second piece for a BBC History project titled Hands On History. Smith co-directed along with Dave Hodgson, and together they tell the story about Eric, a boy who travels back in time to visit a London under attack by Hitler.

Firth Working on a Feature and a BBC Web Series

We haven’t posted about UK’s animation madman, David Firth, in over a year. He’s gone a bit quiet recently, and last month he revealed why. Firth is working on a feature film, titled The Meadow Man, which he’s producing mostly on his own. To fund the hour-long project, he’s creating a series for the BBC, of which he’s made 3 so far. The first episode of Drillbithead was released this week:
