Brazilian-based TrickOrScript.com has unveiled a series of Flash animation plug-ins. Animators use Flash software in a very specific way, and there’s functionality and repetitive tasks that are unique to our work flow. TrickOrScript.com zeroed in on some of the major ones, including ‘squash and stretch,’ a thumbnail viewer, and an interesting take on motion paths.

Dimitri Frazao, a student at Cal Arts in Valencia, California, recently posted his senior film One Last Song on YouTube. He animated the short in Flash, composited it in After Effects and then edited it all together in Final Cut Pro.

Frazao, a Brazilian native, also created this short live-action/animation composite test along with fellow Cal Arts students Alex Hirsch and Nick Butera.

A Brazilian Flash animation site called Mundo Canibal seems to have captivated the nation. The site hosts dozens (hundreds?) of short animated clips, all narrated by in a pitched-up screetch that will burst your eardrums. Some of the shorts are topical – making fun of Tom Cruise or Star Wars – but most are original characters.

The most popular shorts have been viewed millions of times, and the most popular, a short called ‘Avaiana de Pau,’ has been seen over 8 million times. It appears the short is about homemade shoes and the pain they can inflict. Most of the shorts seem to rely heavily on poop, screaming, and then more screaming.

The site has seen so much success that they’ve released a DVD filled with 40 of the web episodes and 5 special bonus episodes. They’ve released a short trailer of the DVD that you can view on the site.

Mundo Canibal is also hawking a Flash animation tutorial book written by the brothers Piologo. The cover features one of the characters from Mundo Canibal.

Don’t miss the short Chuck Norris clip. He’s incredibly powerful and focused, and they capture his essence perfectly.

Thanks to Fabio for the story tip.
