Pending CalArts graduate Alex Hirsch was written-up here last week, and his short Off the Wall wound up being featured on the almighty Digg.com.
If you’re craving some more Hirsch goodness, count on Zero and One: An Amusing Tangent, a clever take on a world where numbers walk, speak and… jump. According to Alex, this was a homework assignment in James Benning’s Math As Art class.
Alex Hirsch will be stepping out into the working world soon, graduating from the animation program at the Valencia-based California Institute of Arts, or CalArts. The school, for those of you who didn’t know, was founded by Roy and Walt Disney in 1961, after merging together two preexisting schools.
Alex’s latest film takes a page from Walt’s book - marrying animation with live-action actors. In this first episode of Off the Wall, titled Lady Troubles, we watch best friends Nick (played by fellow animator Nick Butera) and Wally (voiced by Hirsch) wager over their dating successes.
Dimitri Frazao, a student at Cal Arts in Valencia, California, recently posted his senior film One Last Song on YouTube. He animated the short in Flash, composited it in After Effects and then edited it all together in Final Cut Pro.
Someone help me out here - which 2nd year Cal Arts student made this clever short called This World?
