What happens when an animator starts animating, and never stops? Well, Curtis Carey is on his way to finding out with his Never Ending Rough animation Project, which he also calls a “daisy chain” project. He animates a few seconds, and then takes the final frame from his last session and animates a few more seconds. I think this is also called “exquisite corpse.”

Andy Coyle recently posted the updated Space Knights title sequence on his blog. The project, which was initiated at Fatkat, was selected to be part of The Detour on TELETOON Pilot Project, as we announced here almost exactly a year ago. The team produced 2 episodes that comprised the pilot, and Coyle and his friends Jon, Tavis and Pat worked on this intro.

Philippe Poirier utilized Toon Boom Digital Pro (which is now Animate Pro) to pull together this senior year film during his studies at Cégep du Vieux Montréal. Pompons et crepage de chignon centers on two women who attend a high society tea party dressed in the same outfit.

Nick Cross (The Waif of Persephone), has been hard at work on Angora Napkin, the girl-band he created along with Sheridan College-grad, Troy Little. The Flash project actually began as a graphic novel, which was published only 5 months ago (on sale for $19.99), and back in 2008 the Canadian network TELETOON announced the project would be part of The Detour pilot project. Below is a montage that Cross and Little whipped together to keep us busy while the pilot continues cooking. It’s nearly a 100% digital production, focusing on strong poses in favor of “slick modern-looking animation.”

Jonathan Lambe has posted a new short that emerged from a Flash class he recently taught. The instruction centered on acting, using a single line of dialog. Lambe too the challenge himself and this was the result – Candy land – Rise of the Candy Valkyrie. The actual animation starts around 1:00 minute. More info over at Jonathan’s blog.
