Ma Lin’s Animated Coldplay Video

posted by admin, 3.43 PM

Lindu, a 27-year old animator based in Shanghai China, dropped out of college in 2001 and created his first Flash animation in August of 2001, according to his Newgrounds.com bio. His unofficial video for the Coldplay song ‘Yellow’ was a huge hit in China, and, more recently, has enjoyed fame over at Newgrounds. Admitedly so, the video has a Jamie Hewlett-style look (’Tankgirl’ and ‘Gorillaz’), but its strong stuff nonetheless.

Ma Lin (his full name) went on to become a director at the Chinese Flash animation studio Itscartoon, which has been the focus of several posts here at CHF. Check out ‘Tatto - Broken Summer’ to see more from Itscartoon.

BoBo & ToTo Walk The Plank

posted by admin, 6.07 PM

BoBo&ToTo are back in a new short, called ‘Breath.’ It’s a haunting little piece of underwater fun, that starts off fairly playful, but the music takes it to an almost dark conclusion.

When the short is done loading, click on the pink fish in the lower right-hand corner to start watching. And watch past the credits for a short tag at the end.

BoBo&ToTo are the creation of B&T Studio in China, and were written up here at CHF last August.

Super Star Music Video

posted by admin, 5.14 PM

Here’s a catchy Flash-animated music video out of China for a song titled ‘Super Star.’ The animation is by B&T Studio, the studio that brought us Bobo & Toto. I had no idea that the Superman logo is public domain.

A Chinese Flash-animated short called ‘Deesha.’ The character models and approach to animation isn’t too far off from ‘South Park.’

Frog Punch Friday

posted by aaron, 6.51 PM

There’s already been several posts here on CHF about the work of the Chinese studio Its Cartoon. Here we see many types of animals competing for the love one woman. And in the end, a frog punches her in the face. Wha?

Flash Fables From China

posted by admin, 5.50 PM

You know the old saying “Never assume that the same number of pigs that accidentally kill themselves in your front yard will again kill themselves next year?” Yea, well neither did I. But the Chinese animation team known as GuangYu does, and they’ve animated a fairly stylish rendition of this time-honored tale. The animation is rather simple and clunky, but it’s pleasing to look at, and we can all learn a little something from it’s message - which has something to do with pigs and stumps and hunger. Be prepared for a bit of a long download.

More of GuangYu’s work can be seen here and here.
