Have you noticed there’s been far less blood flowing under your front door this year? That’s because there hasn’t been a genuine, brand-new Happy Tree Friends episode since 2010. That problem has been fixed, and the crimson river is flowing again, my friends. All thanks to Clause For Concern, a holiday-themed episode that just launched on YouTube. Welcome back to Kenn Navarro and your blood-soaked friends!

Fans Helping Bring KA-POW! Back

Since I’ve been working at Mondo Media, we’ve produced only a few new Happy Tree Friends episodes, and no KA-POW! installments. They’re not cheap to make, and we’ve been scratching our heads on how to get more into the oven. Kickstarter seemed like the logical next step, and so the Mondo Art Department has put together a plan that will raise the money while also getting some great limited-edition t-shirts and posters in the fan’s hands. Check out the promo below, and then head over to Kickstarter to help pick which character will star in the next KA-POW! installment (I voted for Flippy).

After more than 10 years, the cast of Happy Tree Friends regulars is over 20 strong, but the blood-thirsty audience has been clammoring for even more potential road kill. After nearly 200,000 votes, the cast now includes the duo knowns as…. Lammy and Mr. Pickels. Here’s a trailer for their first short, A Bit of a Pickle, which can be seen in it’s entirety over at HappyTreeFriends.com.

Flash Animation Powering iPhone Games

Flash-animated iPhone games are popping up like mushrooms. This one, by Joe Cartoon appears to have been created while taking mushrooms. It’s called Blend the Boss:

Speaking of games, here’s some Flash-animated gameplay footage from a Virtual Puppy that UK-animator Paul Nicholson created for Cartoon Network’s Boomerang website. Nice stuff!

Atom.com managed to snag an exclusive premiere of a new Happy Tree Friends 2-parter. Junk in the Trunk, which was directed by Ken Navarro, features Lumpy and his pet elephant. Part 1, which you can see below, contains not an ounce of blood. Fear not, the bloody second half can be seen here.

2008 Animated Holiday Card Bonanza!

Over at Lineboil.com, we already kicked off the holiday season with the Top 10 Christmas Animations, so it’s time we get our act together here at CHF. We present to you the first big batch of Flash-animated holiday fun. If you haven’t submitted yours yet – get crackin!

First, the Happy Tree Friends remind us that no celebration is safe when Lumpy the moose in the kitchen. This episode is titled Kitchen Kringle.

Joe Cartoon redefines “Ho ho ho” in his holiday short titled Santa Hoe!

The Brothers McLeod unveiled this short holiday music video for NellerDavies.com.

Joe Corrao shares his holiday with the Lil’ Ratskulz over at his 4eyedaniamtion.com site. You can also see his teaser for that project here.

And Plexipixel created a game based on their 2007 Flash animated holiday card. It’s caled Twilight Pixie Glide.

New KA-POW! Episode is Super Splendid

The Happy Tree Friends spin-off series has spun out Splendid. The latest 3-minute adventure from Mondo Media has launched, and it features the well-intended superhero Splendid, who has been redesigned for his new starring role. Roque Ballesteros directed and his pals at Ghostbot handled the design, storyboarding, layout and animation. This episode of Splendid’s SSSSSuper Squad is titled Mirror, Mirror, in which we meet Splendid’s arch nemesis – Splendont!

The animation team included Roque, Sam Chi, Tony Cliff, Alan Lau, Brad Rau, Joel Reid, Jayson Thiessen and Kris Toscanini – and I spotted my pal Chris Battle on the layout team. Great work, gang.
