As you are all surely aware, today is Towel Day. Errr… what? Okay, it’s not a huge deal yet, but Towel Day is a tribute to Douglas Adams, the author of such books as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s actually observed in dozens of countries, with followers carrying around a towel in Adams’ honor. Why, a towel? Here’s the quote from THGTTG, “A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.” And on that note, enjoy this animated short that was designed by Eran Mendel and animated by Oren Mashkovski.

Submerge Into Kidron’s Blue Whale

Sivan Kidron graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem last year, but not before submitting this final film. It’s title Blue Whale, a textured film that makes great use of negative space and simple sounds. The 6-minute film moves with the speed and grace of a whale, and that’s not a bad thing – it just takes a little patience.

Goodman Operates On EndoGrab Promo

Yoni Goodman, who served as the animation director of Waltz With Bashir, recently created a promotional clip for an Israeli medical device called the EndoGrab (kinda reminds me of Steve Martin’s invention in The Jerk – the Opti-Grab). Goodman managed to add a great deal of creativity and fun into a fairly dry subject matter.
